Presented to the Player’s Player of the Season as voted by the Club’s membership.
When is a Cup not a Cup? When it’s The Aotearoa Cup.
The Aotearoa Trophy (Maori for ‘Land of the long white cloud’) was presented to the Club in 1998 by our then, resident New Zealanders, Gary Shepherd and Andy Willoughby.
Whether Kiwi humour or an engravers mistake this trophy carries a name-plate bearing the inscription AOTEAROA CUP. Gary is currently Club Secretary and became the first player to win his own trophy in 2000. While Andrew, himself an award winner, lives in Auckland, New Zealand.
